How to Fish Upgrade Path & Money Guide
Money is the whole game - earn it, spend it on the right upgrades, and you clear islands fast. The community found a skip that gets you to the shotgun within the first hour. Follow this order.

The Upgrade Order (In Order)
| Upgrade | What It Does | When |
|---|---|---|
| Buy the Knife | Cheap reliable melee finisher for early fish | First hour - kills crabs and small fish cheaply |
| Brass Knuckles + Beer skip | Skip the pistol and build toward the shotgun faster | Early game - the proven community skip |
| Upgrade the Shotgun | Best damage-per-money for piranhas and mid bosses | Before the piranha island - carry it as your main |
| Boat engine | Cut travel time between islands and the shop | Mid game - grind reduction |
| Stock Dynamite | Clear fish swarms and cook free healing food | Piranha island and the final island |
| Radar / map upgrade | Find fish and quest spots faster | Optional QoL after the engine |
| Balanced loadout, not everything | Buying one weapon you upgrade beats owning every gun at base level | Always - budget discipline wins |
Your Island Progression
| Order | Progression |
|---|---|
| 1 | Learn the catch → sell loop on island 1 |
| 2 | Buy the Knife and clear early crabs |
| 3 | Do the Brass Knuckles + Beer money skip |
| 4 | Buy and upgrade the Shotgun |
| 5 | Find the 5 leeches on island 2 for the farmer |
| 6 | Beat the Spider Crab boss, hand in the trophy |
| 7 | Clear the piranha island with dynamite |
| 8 | Beat the Pufferfish, then the Albatross, then the Bowhead Whale |
The Money-First Strategy
Sell every catch, then 360 trick-shot every creature for the double bonus. Buy the Brass Knuckles ($58), upgrade once, grab a Beer ($12), and farm easy fish for the fastest early cash. A balanced loadout beats owning every gun - one upgraded weapon you know how to use wins every island.
